The U.S. Island Territory of Guam
The Island of Guam , the Philippines and Puerto Rico were ceded to the United States from Spain by the Treaty of Paris which ended the Spanish-American war in 1898. The U.S. Congress passed the Guam Organic Act of 1950 establishing Guam's current political status as an Unincorporated Territory of the United States . Guam has a Governor and a Senate, but remains a U.S. Territory affording all of the protections of U.S. Law and with its natural beauty and friendly people make Guam an attractive vacation destination.
The Cruising Grounds
Joss sails from Agat Marina in central Guam, South to Cocos Island and North to Double Reef, within the lee of the island, protected from high winds and rough seas. Curious dolphins routinely accompany Joss as she sails the coast. Next on the agenda is a stop at one of the many secluded coves or pristine reefs that dot the coastline for swimming, snorkeling, cocktails or a bar-b-que on-board or ashore.
